TPC Las Vegas Golf ClubTPC Las Vegas

Walk in the footsteps of some of the PGA Tour’s finest players at TPC Las Vegas. Your Las Vegas Golf School will be taught by former Tour Player, Bob Byman, 1979 Bayhill Classic Winner.

TPC Las Vegas Golf ClubAs the home of professional golf in Las Vegas, TPC Las Vegas can most aptly be described as “desert elegance.” Before architect Bobby Weed and player consultant Raymond Floyd could put their combined skills to work, contractors were busy preparing the site … with dynamite. Yes, TPC Las Vegas, north of the glittering gaming city of Las Vegas, is a blast. Off in the distance, to the south, shimmers glamorous Las Vegas with all its polished attractions. Look away and the stark mountains and canyons offer a drama all their own. TPC Las Vegas managed to meld these two juxtaposed forces. Lush green parcels of manicured turf are woven throughout a rugged tapestry of arroyos, barrancas and other natural features in the southern Nevada desert. While TPC Las Vegas meanders over several hundred acres of native desert, it has only 110 acres of irrigated land - another plus in the realm of environmental conservation and wildlife preservation. There is little wonder why TPC Las Vegas was the 138th course in the world, and just the second in Nevada at the time it opened, to earn distinction as a "Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary" by the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System.

TPC Las Vegas Golf ClubOpened in 1996, TPC Las Vegas, which has hosted the SENIOR PGA TOUR's Las Vegas Classic in past years and the Fry’s.com Open, is an integral part of the nation's largest master-planned community, Summerlin. The par-71, 7,063-yard golf course offers a stern test of golfing skills along with stunning vistas. Dramatic scenery abounds, including a view of Red Rock Canyon. The theme of TPC Las Vegas was designed with a more natural and rugged look to create a contrast unsurpassed in Las Vegas. Featuring Bermuda fairways that are over-seeded annually with Rye, TPC Las Vegas provides top-shelf playing conditions all throughout the year.

Consistently ranked within the Top 100 Golf Shops in America by Golf World Business, and a past recipient of “Best Golf Shops” by Vegas Golfer, TPC Las Vegas provides a vast array of upscale PGA TOUR and TPC Las Vegas merchandise which are certain to please even the most discriminating shopper. The purchasing power of the PGA TOUR allows our shops to showcase the latest fashions in the golf industry. The skills of our brand specialists means we can offer products on the cutting edge of golf merchandising before you will find them anywhere else. Enjoy browsing our 2000 square foot shop with brand names such as Cutter & Buck, Tehàma and Adidas. With featured vendors Titleist, TaylorMade, and Nike, TPC Scottsdale’s golf shop can assist you with all of your golf equipment needs. Our professional sales staff can help you find exactly what you are looking for from the newest performance fabric to the latest equipment to hit the market.

Providing the rare experience of great food, friendly service and irreplaceable atmosphere, TPC Las Vegas has it all with the TPC Grille. The Grille is highlighted by a serene and panoramic vista of the lush, manicured 18th fairway, with the beautiful Red Rock National Park serving as an awe-inspiring backdrop. Such a scene, even in Las Vegas, is rare. The TPC Grille is accented by a full service bar and an expansive outdoor patio. The country-club-for-a-day ambience that so many high-end daily fee courses try to deliver actually arrives at TPC Las Vegas, and it does so in a natural, uncontrived way.

Bob Byman

Bob Byman was born April, 21, 1955 in Poughkeepsie, New York. As a boy in a sports minded family, he played grade, junior or high school baseball, basketball, football, track and field, wrestling and golf. He played hockey, pool, ping pong and bowling for fun. Growing up in New York and Colorado allowed for seasonal sports participation. Even though sports were greatly important to him and his family, he was expected to excel at school as well. Bob finished in the top 5 in his class at Fairview High School in Boulder, Colorado with a 3.92 grade point average.

Bob was first introduced to golf, by his father, at the age of 8. He started competing that year in the Mid Hudson Junior Golf Program in upstate New York. He won his first tournament soon thereafter and was hooked. Golf became my favorite sport. He spent his summers playing Wiltwyck CC in Kingston, NY and Flatirons CC in Boulder Colorado. At 16, he won his first of 3 consecutive Colorado State Amateur Championships. At 17, he won the USGA Junior Championship and qualified for the US Open beating Nicklaus’ record for the youngest ever to qualify by 3 months. In 1972 Bob won 80% of the tournaments he entered. It was an amazing year.

At the 1972 US Open at Pebble Beach, he played with Arnold Palmer and Julius Boros in a practice round. After the round, Palmer strongly encouraged him to consider Wake Forest University as the college that he should attend. Bob took his advice. He received the prestigious Buddy Worsham Scholarship in 1973. Under the tutelage and mentoring of the legendary coach Jesse Haddock, the team won 2 NCAA team titles. Along with Curtis Strange, Jay Haas and David Thore, the team was and still is considered to have had the best college golf team in history.

Bob Byman turned pro in 1976. In 1977, he won three national opens in Sweden, Holland and New Zealand. He qualified for the PGA Tour in 1978 and won in his 13th event the following year at the Bay Hill Classic in a playoff with John Schroeder. He finished 7th in that year’s British Open. From 1977 to 1979 he was ranked in the top 25 in the world. He won two more national opens in 1978 and 1982 and continued competing full time on the PGA Tour through 1985.

He competed sporadically on the world Tours until 2003, but beginning in 1987 he started teaching for a living. By the early 1990’s he was a very accomplished instructor and coach and has continued to refine and improve his skills. From the late 1980’s to 2003 he successfully taught over 40,000+ lessons. He made the transition from the competitive golfer to the selfless instructor quite easily and naturally. Bob has a very unusual blend of playing and teaching experiences, expertise and accomplishments. He has played with or seen play every great player from the 1950’s to the present. He has studied the ones who came before them.

Bob Byman, Tiger Woods, Arnold Palmer, Ernie Els, Phil MikelsonHis students quickly become aware of his great passion for helping anyone who wishes to learn. He has taught champions at every level of competition…from junior to PGA Tour golfers, from beginners to the most advanced amateurs and from children to women to men…right and left handed.

From 2003 to 2006, he spent most of his time working on his own game trying to prepare and play Senior professional golf. He played on the European Seniors Tour in 2005. He is a lifetime member of the PGA and Champions Tour. In 2007, he put all his energies back into teaching and coaching again. Bob has taught all over the world and is available to teach at our Las Vegas golf school at TPC Las Vegas and the Scottsdale golf school at the TPC Scottsdale.
